Teen/Miss Gonzales Jambalaya Application
Once you have been selected Teen or Miss Gonzales Jambalaya Queen, you will be under the supervision of the Pageant Director. The title you hold carries with it a responsibility to carry out your duties accordingly. Please read the following rules set forth by the Teen/Miss Gonzales Jambalaya Pageant carefully and be sure that you understand each one and its implications.
RULES AND REGULATIONS 2007
- Miss contestants must be at least 17 years or no more than 22 on May 31, 2007. Teen contestants must be at least 14 years or no more that 16 years of age on May 31, 2007. She must be a resident of ASCENSION PARISH.
- Teen/Miss Gonzales Jambalaya is expected to act in a ladylike manner AT ALL TIMES. Use of profanity, alcohol, drugs or any conduct unbecoming of a Queen while she is representing the Festival will be grounds for immediate dismissal. The title, all prizes and privileges of the same will revert back to the Teen/Miss Gonzales Jambalaya Pageant.
- A contestant cannot be married at the time of the contest and must never have been married. She must not have or ever have had a child. Marriage or pregnancy during her reign as Teen/Miss Gonzales Jambalaya will result in automatic revocation of her title, all prizes and privileges of the same.
- As Teen/Miss Queen she will attend the annual Jambalaya Festival to be held Memorial Day Weekend, May 2007. She will also be a special guest and ride in the December 2007, Greater Christmas Parade. As a goodwill ambassador for our parish, she will make personal appearances representing not only the Jambalaya Festival Association, but also the City of Gonzales. As Teen Queen you will be required to attend a minimum of six JFA approved events, excluding the above. As Teen/Miss Jambalaya, the contestant also agrees to attend any functions the JFA arranges for her..
- As a visitor at various festivals around the state, she will be subject to the rules and regulations of that festival and must abide by such. All invitations and events attended should be directed to the Pageant Directors and approved.
- If she is presently a reigning queen, she will be asked to give up her crown and any other titles held should she be selected Teen/Miss Gonzales Jambalaya. As Queen, she will not be allowed to represent any other Festival or Organization in any capacity without the written permission of the Pageant Committee. Failure to comply with this rule may result in immediate and automatic revocation of the title; all prizes, and privileges of the same.
- All entry forms must be submitted with one (1) color or black and white 5 x 7 bust photograph and entry fee of $125.00. Checks and money orders should be made payable to the Jambalaya Festival Association. (You may get a sponsor.)
- Contestants will be judged in Interview, Evening Gown and On-Stage Interview. There will be no on-stage question; instead we will have a short on-stage interview during the evening gown competition. The Emcee will discuss information taken from your application and you will be judged accordingly.
- Contestants will be required to do the following:
- Attend rehearsal. A small opening number will be practiced at this time. (Time and place to be announced.)
- Attend Interview/Luncheon where Miss contestants will have an approximate eight minute interview and Teen contestants will have an approximate five minute interview with a panel of qualified judges on community activities, the Jambalaya Festival, current events, or questions chosen from completed questionnaire. Contestants should be dressed appropriately.
- On stage, state your name, age.
- Vote on Miss Congeniality.
- A contestant may compete more than once for the title of Teen/Miss Gonzales Jambalaya, but upon winning the title, may not compete again. If chosen Teen Queen, and she reaches the age of 17 during her year of reign, she will be ineligible to compete the following year for the title of Miss Gonzales Jambalaya as she must return to crown her successor.
- Contestant’s parents/family/helpers will not be allowed backstage once the pageant begins.
